HTM Week 2023: Our Message of Profound Appreciation

This year’s HTM week is May 14-20, 2023, and we would like to express our gratitude for the dedicated work of healthcare technology management professionals everywhere.

Every year, the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation® (AAMI) sponsors Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) Week. The purpose of this annual event is to promote awareness and appreciation of the professionals who manage and maintain all of the mission-critical technology across the healthcare industry.

This year’s HTM week is May 14-20, 2023, and we would like to express our gratitude for the dedicated work of healthcare technology management professionals during the global COVID-19 pandemic.

At Securitas Healthcare, we have a rich history of partnering with biomed and clinical engineering departments – allowing us to witness first-hand the advanced expertise and unwavering commitment they bring to ensuring patient safety. During the height of the COVID-19 crisis, these teams were tasked with the extraordinary challenge of procuring additional medical devices needed to support the surge in patient volumes, maintaining additional equipment not normally kept in high quantities and figuring out ways to manage this equipment across multiple locations.

For the hospitals already leveraging RTLS, it was our privilege to help quickly expand their asset tracking capabilities to better manage the extra rented and owned equipment. For others, we were able to support rapid implementations of new systems in record time. We had the opportunity to help the dedicated biomed team at Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT) streamline their asset management process, ensuring real-time asset tracking and maximizing the availability of mobile medical equipment and supply kits throughout two hospitals.

This is just one of the examples showcasing the imperative role that healthcare technology professionals play in keeping patients safe through the proper monitoring and repair of crucial medical devices; and helping to ensure the equipment is available for front-line caregivers when needed.

As we pause and reflect on what has unquestionably been one of the most challenging events of our lifetime, we would like to show our profound appreciation for all the biomedical and clinical engineers who have been on the front lines working tirelessly to keep patients safe while supporting the needs of the clinical staff. Your expertise and dedication have been key to helping our healthcare system pivot to caring for the thousands of patients afflicted with COVID-19 while continuing to care for other patient populations. We see you and we celebrate you – throughout HTM week and beyond.
